These Red Cross badges are over 100 years old. During the beginning of WWI, The Red Cross was a small organization still in the process of developing its identity and programs. During that time, these red and white pins were given out to individuals who donated blood. By the time the war was over in 1918, the Red Cross had become a major national humanitarian organization with a major focus on war effort. These pins each represent a life. They represent an act of humanity towards U.S. & Allied military personnel and civilian war victims.
Made in a seamless industrial setting; cut, soldered and filed to perfection. The heavy duty prongs were precisely measured and formed to hold each pin in place. Finished with a semi-matte finish. The facing on the mini’s measure roughly 14mm in diameter. Made entirely in Sterling.
Each pin will vary in appearance as they came from different manufacturing companies. The colors vary from white to yellowish white. Some crosses may be slightly off center. The red plusses will vary from warm to cool. Each pin has slight wear in the enamel coating, some may have minor scratches or discoloring; they reflect their age.
“I purchased the Original Red Cross ring in 2018 as a retiring gift to myself after being a Nurse 22 years! I also collect WWI and WWII memorabilia”
