‘Hand + eye earrings’
Sterling Silver and 14k Gold Fill
The iris’ are made out of 14k Gold Fill and are each forged with 45-50 individual hammer strikes to make up the disc, iris lines and pupils. The lids are made convexed in sterling around the iris for a 3-dimensional look. The edges are scalloped with a saw and then meticulously needle filed to finish. Each hand was drawn, sawn, stamped and forged with bent finger tips-projecting the evil eye outward and beyond. I did a deep brushed matte finish on the hands and a 10++ shine on the eyes and earring hooks. Earring hooks are made custom—wrapped and formed by hand.
Hands measure 1 1/4″ long. From top of earring hook to bottom earrings measure 2 1/8″ long.
Note: In order for Gold Fill to live up to its purity it must be used in a cold connection only. The iris in these rings have been heat treated therefore they will tarnish. By heat treating Gold Fill, the copper rises to the surface (hence the orange patina that will develop over time.) Store in a sealed box or bag when not in use and use a jewelry polishing cloth to clean the iris’.
